The participants were shown how to cut the nib of a pen, the proper paper and hand placement and ink preparation. The importance of dots as a measurement of length and width of each letter was discussed. The course focused on a type of calligraphy named Riq'ah, because of its simplicity in the method of writing. In the final week, the participants practiced writing Islamic Calligraphy guided by short videos demonstrating the method of writing.
