Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre

The Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre (SLURC) at the Institute of Geography and Development Studies of Njala University. It offers short training courses and several opportunities to partner up in research and urban development projects. It also has a physical and online resource unit with an extensive collection of knowledge about urban Sierra Leone and other interesting materials.

Development and Planning in African Cities master’s course

We would like to use this opportunity to make you aware of the exciting news that SLURC together with DPU (UCL) is developing a new master’s course in Development and Planning in African Cities (MSc DePAC) which will be on offer from October 2021 at Njala University, Sierra Leone.

We are working closely with scholars from various African countries and other parts of the world, with the African Association of Planning Schools (AAPS) and other institutions to make this course different from current planning courses; a common consensus amongst the scholars was that planning education needs to be decolonised and contextualised so that it addresses urban issues in African cities in an effective way and serves those living in the fast growing urban centres in Africa.
