Editing, checking and improving your writing
It is a good idea to make sure you check everything you write as carefully as you can.
If possible, ask a friend, tutor or teacher to check it for you. They should check for errors, but also that it is clear and easy to read. If you are worried about your accuracy, prepare the form in a Word (or similar) document first, check everything, ask someone else to check, and then ‘copy and paste’ the final version into the real form.
Another good thing to do can be to ask someone to ‘summarise’ it back to you (especially your Personal Statement) - then you can check the main points you want to communicate are the ones that someone notices when they read it.
There is also a free tool called ‘Write and Improve’. If you paste your text in here (or write directly into the box) it will automatically give you an overall level score for the English you use and highlight things you can improve. Then, you can edit your writing, and submit it again as many times as you need to until you’re happy with it.

Write and Improve is also good for helping you improve your own English generally, and practice for any English exams that you need to take. We’ll be talking more about checking and improving your English level later in the course.
