Behaviour change techniques (BCTs) and how to use them with the Model for Improvement

Prof Peter Davey discusses how to use the Model for Improvement and BCTs

In this video Professor Peter Davey discusses how behaviour change techniques (BCTs) can be used to support the Model for Improvement in an intervention.

Before you watch the video revisit the intervention you were asked to consider in Step 3.6 to improve antibiotic prescribing in your location.

You were asked to consider your aim and measurements for this improvement. In Step 3.9 you were asked how you would test your measures to check they would give you the information you needed to make these improvements.

In this video Professor Davey builds on the work in Week 3 by explaining how the Model for Improvement can be used to plan your intervention by asking the following questions:

  • What are we trying to accomplish
  • How will we know a change is an improvement
  • What change can we make that will result in an improvement?
