The increased use of antibiotics globally

The overuse and misuse of antibiotics is a global problem.

In order to understand the threat this poses, you may like to watch this Youtube video “Global use of antibiotics soars as resistance crisis worsens, study says” by CBS news March 2018.

This is an additional video, hosted on YouTube.

“Antibiotic resistance has risen to dangerously high levels in all parts of the world in recent years. Yet despite this growing health crisis, new research shows worldwide use of antibiotics skyrocketed between 2000 and 2015, largely driven by dramatic increases in low-income and middle-income countries. CBS News’ chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook joins CBSN to explain the research team’s findings and what it means for treating illnesses.”
