Welcome to week 3

Welcome to week 3 of this course on antimicrobial stewardship in veterinary practice.

In week 2 we discussed the central role of effective prescribing for AMS, developed strategies for monitoring and benchmarking medicines use, and reflected on the experience of veterinary practitioners.

This week, species-focused case studies and examples from human healthcare showcase practical ways to improve AMS, acting as a catalyst for ideas in your own setting. We focus on strategies for motivating lasting change, equipping learners with the skills to develop a culture of good antimicrobial stewardship in their place of work. We will be encouraging you to make a pledge to make a difference and improve AMS in your local context.

By the end of week 3 learners should be able to:

  • Assess and discuss possible solutions for achieving good antimicrobial stewardship and effective prescribing within their local context and species discipline.
  • Model good antimicrobial stewardship practices.
  • Lead in motivating change towards good antimicrobial stewardship and effective prescribing within their local context.

We hope you enjoy the third and final week of this course! Please stay active on the course by sharing your views with other learners in the comments section.
