Skip to 0 minutes and 16 secondsHello and welcome back to Week 2 of this course about CBT, anxiety, and depression. This week we're going to focus on depression, and we're going to look at some of the facts a figures associated with depression. We're going to talk about how common depression is, what it feels like, and we're going to try and dispel some myths and some ideas that people might have about depression aren't quite right. We're going to meet a patient who suffered from depression, had CBT, and is going to tell us about her experience of that and how she's got on and lived her life into the future.
Skip to 0 minutes and 49 secondsFinally, we're going to look at depression and how we understand it from the point of view of cognitive behaviour therapy. So we're going to explain depression as we see it in CBT terms. So here we're going to think about what does CBT tell us about why depression happens, why it goes on, and why it doesn't go away.
Welcome to Week 2
Hello and welcome back to the second week of this online course: ‘Understanding Anxiety, Depression and CBT’. During this week, we’ll be focusing on depression.
We’ll start off with a quiz to see how much you actually know about depression, and we’ll be presenting some facts and figures to set the scene. We’ll also be thinking about some of the common myths and stereotypes which exist around depression, and addressing them with more accurate information. We’ll be thinking about what depression actually is (and what it isn’t) and what it feels like to have depression.
Finally, we’ll be thinking about depression in the context of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and how a CBT model can explain how and why depression persists.
