The left hemisphere with crucial regions
The left hemisphere with crucial regions

Summary and next steps

You have reached the end of the first of six weeks. The two big fields that are working together in language testing during awake brain surgery have both been introduced: neuroanatomy/neurosurgery and linguistics. We hope you have now got an idea of what they stand for and how they are both crucial.

We hope that you enjoyed this first week. Is there anything that you really liked or something that is still unclear? You can find some more information on aphasia in this book chapter.

In the next weeks, we will break it down into further disciplines and cover the preoperative assessments, the intraoperative procedure, as well as the postoperative observations and where linguistics plays into all of this.

See you next week!
