Skip to 0 minutes and 5 secondsHello, and welcome to this course entitled 'From DNA Sequence to Protein Function'. In this course, you're going to learn how to investigate genes and proteins using just the internet. This course is useful to all levels of learner who wish to expand their knowledge of bioinformatics. You will learn from materials developed exclusively from this course, as well as original research developed by other scientists. We use videos, as well as screen casts, exercises, and do-it-yourself activities in which you are going to be able to do and see bioinformatics in action. This course is split into two weeks. In Week 1, you will learn how to represent proteins and DNA in simplified sequences of just letters.

Skip to 0 minutes and 44 secondsIn the second week, you will learn how to search databases to understand more about the functions of these genes and proteins. We encourage you to make use of the Comment area, where you can post your thoughts, comments, and suggestions and share them with other learners. We look forward to hearing from you, and we hope you enjoy the course.
