Setting up an emulator

Setting up an emulator is a convenient way to test your code in a virtual device. However, it can be tricky to set them up in some machines and they can be very slow. In this video we also show ‘comments’ in a program (09:10).

If you have difficulty in getting an emulator to work, you will need to do one of the following:

  • If you have an Android 2.2 device (or higher) that you can use to test your code, proceed to the next Step.

  • If you do not have an Android device to test your code, make a post in the comments. Someone in the community may be able to help you. Provide details about your computer configuration and problem (for example: Operating System and version, 32 or 64 bit, explanation of the problem and any error messages received). It’s also worth having a look at our Begin Programming FAQs suggestions and/or “Googling” the exact message you get and see if there is a suggestion on a technical site such as stackoverflow.com. If you do find a good solution, do share it with the community.
