One of the most notorious topics from recent years is climate change, now recognised as a huge challenge facing society worldwide. Using biochemical knowledge to identify solutions to some of these problems and to help protect the environment is opening up new economic opportunities. There are now plenty of reasons for businesses to minimise the impact they make on the environment. They can reduce their operating costs by becoming energy efficient, and improve their reputation with the public, attracting more customers.
