What have we learnt

Key concepts: biosecurity, biosafety and bioterrorism

In this week we introduced biosecurity, biosafety and bioterrorism as key concepts. These were then linked to how public health practitioners understand, investigate and manage risks associated with biosecurity and bioterrorism. You have learned that biosecurity sits within a complex web of interactions between risk, physical security, decision making and resources.

Feel free to share your own experiences with public health and epidemic responses, and some of the challenges involved in handling and managing high risk biological agents.
