Draw on lessons from history and learn how to bring about transformative change

On this course, you will explore the lessons learnt from history to investigate how transformative change can occur when so many agencies have conflicting agendas and priorities. You will learn how development management can be made more transformative within the constraints of the ‘real world’.

You’ll explore advocacy – how change happens, its political processes, how development managers ‘do’ advocacy and critical approaches to advocacy processes. You’ll also gain the skills and knowledge needed to write the final assessment of the Postgraduate Certificate in Global Development Management.

What topics will you cover?

  • Doing development differently
  • Humanitarian standards including safeguarding issues
  • Political processes of advocacy
  • Governance: getting the rules right to negotiate and mediate change
