So far we’ve looked at the way digital literacy impacts your role in the workplace, and explored what employers look for when it comes to digital literacy capabilities.
We also talked to some senior professional staff who shared their insights about digital literacy at work.
Throughout the week, we reflected on our own digital literacy and worked through a simple scenario to illustrate some of the capabilities associated with digital literacy.
There are many ways to define digital literacy depending on context. But generally, digital literacy encompasses a wide array of skills and knowledge that involve the way you find, use and disseminate information using digital tools.
For some organisations, digital literacy is at the core of their daily operations. For others digital literacy is becoming more valuable as it helps them to access new markets, suppliers, and tools to improve.
Employees with good digital literacy can help an organisation to improve its practical outcomes and overall functioning, and assist to implement digital change.
Digital literacy is not an innate skill, rather it must be learned and developed. So don’t be discouraged if you are not as good as a co-worker, it will take time, knowledge and practice to build the skill.
