Do you know what and where Catalonia is?
Catalonia is a country within the Spanish State, a European country located in the north-east of the Iberian Peninsula. It has 7.5 million inhabitants.
Did you know that Pompeu Fabra – the grammarian for which our university is named – codified modern Catalan? Catalan is the language spoken in Catalonia and other communities in Spain. It is also spoken in Andorra. The total number of Catalan speakers is 12 million. Catalonia is a nation with over a thousand years of history, with centuries-old government institutions, its own symbols and a history that is sure to open your eyes. Catalonia is felt as a nation by Catalans, although it does not have its own state

- In the first week, we will introduce you to the Catalan language, art and culture.
- In the second, we will deal with history, politics and the media.
- And finally, in the third, we will be learning about the economy, society and the welfare state.
