This week's focus is all about how well you know the young people you work with.

Reviewed recommended best practice for the regard to managing behaviour by getting the simple things right. Started to develop your understanding of the causes of challenging behaviour and add strategies to your online toolkit to support you. During this week we will explore the work of the renowned psychologist Abraham Maslow in order to consider the external influences on children and indeed adults that impact on behaviour. We'll also use the work of Charlie Taylor who is the former head of a special school for children with challenging behaviour and went on to be the government's behaviour tsar.

Don't forget to use your learning journal to make a record of anything in particular interest or relevance, as well as identifying any specific strategies which may be of benefit to your own practice. As always, utilise the opportunity to discuss the material from this week with your fellow learners through the discussion space.
