Learn more about the International Centre for Evidence in Disability

The International Centre for Evidence in Disability (ICED) is a research group at LSHTM, focusing on generating evidence on how to improve the health and wellbeing of people with disabilities, particularly in low- and middle-income settings. The Centre draws together a diverse range of researchers across LSHTM, with broad skills and knowledge in the field of disability.

Our focus is on developing tools, techniques and evidence about disability, leading to and testing scalable interventions. Almost all of our research is undertaken in low- and middle-income countries. We place a strong emphasis on translating research outcomes into practice and we are closely linked to several international agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), such as CBM, to help achieve this goal.

The Centre runs a teaching programme on disability within LSHTM, the ‘Global Disability and Health’ course, and students are closely involved in our activities throughout the year. We also run a seminar series, and have hosted 4 international conferences on Global Disability and Health.
