Skip to 0 minutes and 2 secondsIn this video tutorial, I will show you how to open the web application of NetLogo, how to open [INAUDIBLE] models from the library in NetLogo, and how to run and manipulate these [INAUDIBLE] models. First you go to the web page of NetLogo Web and then you click on the NetLogo Web logo. Then OS loads in a randomized model from the standard model library, which you can find here, and here you can search for models. Or if you type in SEG, you will find the segregation model, and it will load in the segregation model. Now in this case we first will change Visualization to [? Old. ?] and this is your standard interface.
Skip to 0 minutes and 47 secondsFor additional options, you can click on the Command Center, where you can type in commands, or you can go to NetLogo Code to check out the code that's actually running the model.
Skip to 1 minute and 2 secondsAnd finally, you can go to Model Info for some extra information on the specific model.
Skip to 1 minute and 10 secondsAnd these are some more advanced features which I recommend you try out. Now this is your standard interface, and you can click the Setup button to set up the model. And then you can click Go once to run the model for one period in time [INAUDIBLE], or you can press Go, which will play the model until it ends. And you can always reset it by pressing Setup again and then pressing Go again. Now here you can see that the [? Schilling ?] model is producing diverse segregated neighborhoods, and you can play around with several parameters before you play the model.
Skip to 2 minutes and 8 secondsAnd finally, in these graphs you can see the output of the model. Now this is what models generally look like in NetLogo Web, and I advise you to try this out as much as possible throughout the course.
Working with the social segregation model in Netlogo
In this video tutorial, we will show you how interact with standard Netlogo models in Netlogo web.
First, go to the online Netlogo environment. Then, click the Netlogo web icon. In the Search the Models Library section type: segregation and select Sample Models/Social Science/Segregation.
This will open segregation model in the browser and allow you to play around with it using the set-up and go buttons. Play around with the parameters and discover how highly segregated neighbourhoods can emerge from small individual preferences.
If you prefer to install Netlogo on your computer.
Alternatively, this video tutorial shows you how to open the model if you have Netlogo on your computer. You can download the software here. For your convenience we have added an installation tutorial to guide you through the installation process (the tutorial is for Windows but the process for Mac and Linux is quite similar).
