(2) The creative process is not limited to works of art but to scientific endeavours as well. (3) The creative process for an individual is the same as that taking place in a group setting. The theory embraces emotion over intellect, and encourages seemingly irrational creative impulses, to help take the creative process 'out of the box.' The integrated theory of Synectics involves intricate adjustments to everything from the context in which the creative process takes place to the state of mind of the participants. There are some tools you could try, to test out whether the theory works for you.

This will take you 'off the beaten track' creatively, and help begin a thinking technique that may lead to other creative connections. Alternatively, you can look at the problem you are trying to solve, and try to connect that with the randomly-sourced objects you have found. Move on to the next section of this course to try it out.
