Joe’s pre-sentence report

You will have seen in the previous animation that before Joe is sentenced, his probation officer constructs a Pre-Sentence Report (PSR), which the court can consider during the sentencing process.

When Joe’s PSR is put together, it refers to his recognition that the use of violence to resolve disputes is wrong. It also notes that Joe felt provoked at the time of the offence by a sense of injustice at being ejected from the queue at LoudSounds, and that he may still think that the use of some violence in this kind of situation was excusable. The PSR notes Joe’s expression of remorse in relation to the degree of injury suffered by Derek Simpson. It also states that he has moved back to his parents’ house in another town, in an effort to dissociate himself from his group of friends.
