Skip to 0 minutes and 6 secondsWelcome to week 4 of ‘From Crime to Punishment: An Introduction to Criminal Justice’. This is the final week of the course, and we will continue to track Joe’s case through the system. We will look at what happens when somebody is convicted of an offence. In particular, we will look at the options available to a court when it comes to sentencing an offender. We will look at some of the aims of sentencing and we will see that these can be controversial. And we will consider whether there might be alternatives to our conventional approaches to sentencing. We will also consider what somebody might do if they were looking to contest their conviction or sentence.
