Week 1 Practice Listening Exercises

There will now follow three sets of practice listening exercises focussing on identification of frequency as follows:

  • Practice Set 1A: Identification of Frequency @ Octave Resolution
  • Practice Set 1B: Identification of Frequency @ 1/3 Octave Resolution
  • Practice Set 1C: Identification of Absence of Frequency Content

These practice listening exercises have been designed to improve your ability to discriminate between different frequencies of pure and complex tones, frequency ranges of noise bands, and the absence of frequency content above or below a particular frequency.

Start sequentially with Practice Set 1A and when you feel confident that you are performing well and consistently, proceed to work through the remaining practice sets. You can revisit these practice listening resources as often as you wish in order to prepare for the week 1 listening assessment.
