A picture tells a thousand words
Attached you will find a series of icon images which we will use to look at our overall attitudes and perceptions of leadership around the world. Spotting the similarities and differences in perceptions across cultures is an integral skill in developing our Cultural Intelligence. Attitudes help us define how we see things, as well as define how we behave in particular situations. This allows us to see how we can work with people that have different opinions to our own.
These icons are abstract. They will mean different things to different people. It is up to you to interpret them in your own way.
Choose an image or series of images which answer the following questions:
What is most admired in leaders in the world you were born in and/or in the world you now work or study in? (Attachment - Admire in a Leader)
What do you think should be most admired in a leader? (Attachment - Admire in a Leader)
What gets in the way of developing Cultural Intelligence? (Attachment 2 - Get in the Way)
Are there any instances where you have noticed that an individual’s leadership style differs from what you would typically expect from somebody from that specific culture?
