Are you ready for take-off?

This course contains many screencasts where the educator walks you through using R software in practical ways. You are strongly encouraged to follow along with the video screencasts, pausing them when necessary. Videos are followed up with quizzes that check your understanding of the concepts. They are also followed up with discussion prompts and opportunities to share your learning and experiences with fellow learners, which is an integral part of the course.

Although there are many different types of data sets with which you might endeavor to work, this course uses airline data to demonstrate concepts in data science. It seeks to make data useful and leave you with practical takeaways.

Are you ready for take-off? The first thing you’ll need to do to prepare for takeoff is download and install R and RStudio. The first screencast demonstrates how to do just that. Other than that, you just need your fellow learners to journey with you. You can add comments anywhere in this course to interact with other learners and ask them for tips.

This course is four weeks in length. Each week is estimated to take four hours, although it highly depends on the extent to which you choose to participate. We hope you’ll stick around for the whole course, but if you’re just here for a few sips of specific content then we understand that too. Let’s see where this journey takes us!
