Living Wage: Professor Donald Hirsch
In this video, Professor Donald Hirsch of the Centre for Research in Social Policy in the Department of Social Sciences based at Loughborough University discusses how data is collected and analysed for living wage calculations.
The voluntary Living Wage adopted by over 2000 accredited Living Wage Employers is presently set at £8.25 an hour for the UK outside London. The calculation is based on the Minimum Income Standard for the United Kingdom, and takes into account what households need in order to have a minimum acceptable standard of living.
