The regulatory challenge of managing data

As more and more data is collected about us, which can be used in multiple ways – to help us but also, potentially, to threaten (for example) our privacy – it is more important than ever that adequate legislation be in place to protect our data and our privacy.

Perhaps the largest scale example of such legislation is the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In his article on the Wired website, Matt Burgess (2019) explores GDPR, focusing particularly on compliance challenges for companies.
