Explore the political nature of evidence for policymaking in health

This short course will give you the opportunity to understand the political nature of evidence for policymaking in health. You will have the opportunity to analyse the political system within which policies are made, as well as the contextual factors that influence policy change. During the course, we will also identify the key stakeholder within policymaking and investigate the mechanisms of power and influence.

  • How commissioning differs to procurement and purchasing
  • Multi-agency working in healthcare
  • The key stakeholders in health policy

What will you achieve?

By the end of the course, you‘ll be able to...

  • Reflect on and critically review the leadership challenges in implementing policy changes at a local level, including marketing and communicating the changes internally and externally
  • Evaluate local responses to national and international policy drivers and critically discuss the tensions which can arise when policy is translated into practice

People with a background in healthcare who want to progress into middle and senior management.

Who will you learn with?

I joined Coventry University in 2020 after many years in the NHS, NICE and Public Health. I have a strong knowledge of UK and International health policy and the use of health economics in policy
