Summary of week 1

Congratulations. You have nearly concluded the first week of the digital accessibility course.

In this first week, we have:

  • looked at disability, businesses championing digital accessibility and the concepts of user experience, usability and accessibility;
  • identified various ways in which content can be represented (text to speech, symbols for text; text equivalents for images; captions and audio descriptions for videos);
  • explored situations in which users depend on assistive technologies and digital accessibility;
  • and seen that accessible design has benefits beyond people with disabilities, and may even benefit you now or sometime later.
