Summary of week 3

This week we have looked at mobile accessibility and how it differs from desktop accessibility.

Mobile devices impose other barriers as their input technologies and output technologies are different. Some tablets, smartphones, watches etc. come with built-in assistive technology out-of-the-box and can reduce barriers arising from daily activities. They can help, for example, to identify colour names to blind people.

Many people with a disability benefit from apps for pedestrian navigation and increase their mobility and independence if apps personalise the guidance according to user needs. Future research will continue to have to find increasingly accurate solutions for indoor navigation.
