Writing a CV is a very personal thing – it’s a story about your past that employers will use to decide if you have a future with them. This free online course will guide you through the CV writing process, helping you create a CV online that will help you net your dream job.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to improve your existing CV, not only by making it more digital and putting your CV online, but also through being more aware of what makes a good CV and what makes a bad one.

In Weeks 1 and 2, we’ll be looking at all of the key skills you’ll need to perfect your CV – the idea is that you’ll build up these key skills so that you’ll be able to see a clear improvement in your CV writing.

In Week 2, we’ll consider how digital you want your CV to be, so that, by the end of the course, you’ll be in a great position to put your CV online and net that job.

And together with Rille Raaper and Viktoria Nikolova, the other educators, we’ll help you to create a 21st century CV that’ll help you to net that dream job. Creating a CV is a personal thing. It’s partly a story of your past that employers use to decide if you have a future with them. When we begin a course, we’re entering new territory, and a guide is always helpful for that.

The main outcome from this course is that you’ll be able to improve your existing CV not only by making more digital, but also through being more aware of what makes a good CV and what makes a bad one.   • The main components of a CV: photographs, personal profiles, video profiles, education, work experience, volunteering, and future plans;
  • Making effective use of the experience of real employers by putting yourself in the position of the employer;
  • Examining the top five personality types sought by employers;
  • Developing transferable skills;
  • Learning how to communicate enthusiasm through a CV and through the deployment of words that convey energy;
  • Developing powers of discrimination to identify good and bad CVs;
  • Matching the CV to the job using job outlines, job advert analysis skills, and refining company research skills;
  • Matching the CV to the job by determining how much technology is appropriate for specific jobs;
  • Adding technology successfully to your CV;
  • Creating the finished CV online;
  • Evaluating the work of others.
