Let's review

This week, you looked at how to align business and IT strategies and why it’s vital for these strategies to work together, for a company to effectively utilise new digital technologies.

You explored the business-IT alignment model, how this can be applied within the workplace and investigated some of the constraints and challenges of using IT. You then considered how how digital leaders might develop an effective business and IT strategy that overcomes these challenges in practice.

We hope you enjoyed writing your peer reviewed essay and that providing feedback for other learners has helped reinforce your understanding of the topics you’ve covered this week. You’ll have another opportunity to write a peer reviewed essay in Week 4.

Remember to include #FLdigitalLead in any discussions you may have about the course on Twitter.

Next week

Next week, you’ll investigate how leaders can use technology to manage their resources more efficiently and add value to their products and services. In particular, you’ll focus on big data, mobile applications and cloud computing. In Week 3 you’ll also compare some in depth, case studies to find out how technology has been utilised within 2 very different organisations and hear from company founders and directors, about how they’re benefiting from emerging digital technologies.
