Explore the foundations of UX and its impact on business

User experience, known as UX, makes a huge difference to whether a digital product, or project, succeeds.

On this three-week course from Accenture, you’ll learn what UX is and why it’s so important. You’ll learn the basics of UX design and what good usability means to both designers and users.

What is a UX designer?

You’ll begin the course examining what user experience means and how it’s integral to creating high-quality products.

Using this knowledge, you’ll then investigate a day in the life of a junior UX designer, giving you useful insights into the expectations of the role.

With this knowledge, you’ll be able to assess your suitability for a career in UX and identify any skill gaps you may need to develop further.

Examine the basics of UX, from user research to experience design

Using videos, quizzes, and interactive discussions, you’ll learn the value of user research in the design phase and explore techniques for gathering meaningful data about your focus groups and stakeholders.

You’ll then delve into the fundamentals of experience design, charting user journeys and gaining an overview of visual design, site structure, and prototyping.

Build your digital skill set as a UX designer

Throughout the course, you’ll be introduced to real-life UX designers working in various industries, highlighting the skills needed to excel in a UX career.

You’ll explore different types of user testing and the final steps of developing and releasing designs, before looking at a typical UX designer job description.

By the end of this course, you’ll understand the main tasks of a UX designer and be able to explain the value of high-quality UX design and its impact on product delivery. You’ll also have gained useful insights to prepare you for kickstarting your own career in UX.

Skip to 0 minutes and 4 seconds What was the last app you used on your phone? You’ve likely used it before, so what made you come back to use it, again? The simplicity, the enjoyment, or maybe, just because you’re used to it? This is called user experience or UX. It’s what brings you back to using a product, maybe without you even realising it. How can you take an experience and improve it for a user? This is what we’ll be covering in this user experience course. Now, think about a website or an app that you’ve told other people about. Why did you tell them about it? Was it because it was easy to use? How did it meet your needs?

Skip to 0 minutes and 45 seconds Did it do what you wanted it to do? For it to get to that stage, there is a process user experience designers take, which we will show you in this course. We will look at the whole UX lifecycle from understanding the requirements and the user’s needs and wants, how you would design the concept, and the many iterations of testing, all with one thing at the centre of it all, the user. If you’re thinking about creating your own app or website or just want to learn more about UX, then this course is for you.
