One of the key ability to execute messages is to pace yourself and take small steps that build both confidence and credibility.

If you can identify a project that is both meaningful and achievable in a short amount of time then you are again increasing your likelihood of success.

  • Meaningful: meaningful enough that when people hear about it, they sit up and pay attention.

  • Achievable: achievable in a short enough timeframe that people don’t lose interest. Delivering a meaningful business outcome will resonate with your stakeholders, hopefully resulting in greater buy-in, thus greater support and funding as you proceed. This will come up again as we dive into Execution later in the course.

People and Skills

As a leader, you will need to build a talented team around you to help answer the process and technical questions, so start with building the team.

In the next sections we will now dip a bit deeper into skills, where you will hear from Andrew and Elizabeth again.
