The big conversations in data (and Artificial Intelligence)
When it comes to data, the current conversation trends gravitate around these topics:
1 - Hype: It can be overwhelming at times to navigate through the noise to find out what is important and what is just a rebranding of last year’s ideas. Many people are overestimating what data and AI can do today and some others just have a general fear of robots taking over the world.
So, “How do you overcome the hype and get started?”.
2 - Value: In the process of either being enthralled or intimidated by the hype, it is easy to lose sight of the fundamental questions:
For example, “How do you drive value from these investments?” and “Where do you start?… without spending too much money?”.
3 - Ethics: The correct use of data can be a differentiator for your organisation but the unethical use of data can get you in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The phrase “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” is particularly relevant when it comes to understanding the ethical use of the insights you generate and decisions you automate.
So, “What practically can you do to create a culture of ethical use?”.
4 - Execution: It is great having a vision but without the ability to execute, it is just an aspiration. If your investments in data are not integral to the execution of your organisation’s strategy, it is unlikely that you will be successful, and you will stumble from one false start to the next.
So, “What are the tips, and warnings, from those with practical experience?”.
