e-Bug was developed for use in schools pre-COVID-19 and so some activities may require modification based on your school’s distancing guidelines. Please use your judgement and tell us how you have modified the activities, or if you would like to discuss some ideas, contact e-Bug@phe.gov.uk

These activities focus on how school groups and community members can become more knowledgeable about accessing health information online, as well as gain knowledge of the importance of vaccines to prevent infections and how antibiotics should be used responsibly.

Accessing Health Information Online (15 mins)

Suitable for school and community groups

This activity will help participants become more confident at accessing health information online and learn about where to go for reliable information.

A summary of instructions for both school and community groups can be found here. You will also find a link in the downloads section below.

Vaccinations activity (15 mins)

Suitable for KS3

This activity will help participants to understand what vaccines are and how they can help prevent the spread of infection to others and contribute to immunity.

A summary of instructions for both school and community groups can be found here. You will also find a link in the downloads section below.

Antibiotics scenarios (10-15 mins)

Suitable for school and community groups

This activity will help participants understand discussions that might take place before we use or have access to antibiotics and how to make informed decisions about antibiotic use using three patient scenarios. It reinforces messages to not take antibiotics for coughs and colds, to take antibiotics as prescribed and not to use other people’s or leftover antibiotics.

A summary of instructions for both school and community groups can be found here. You will also find a link in the downloads section below.

If you are supporting home-learning or working with small groups of children, we have additional activities on antibiotic awareness in our newly launched Antibiotic Guardian Youth Badge Leader and Volunteer Activity Pack. Click here to access this resource.

Have you carried out any activities which are similar to these?
