What happens next?
Some of you taking this course may be interested in studying or working in Engineering, perhaps studying at a UK University like Birmingham. If completing this course has whetted your appetite then that will be a job well done for us, in presenting the course to you.
Some of you are already students in Engineering, or on other degree programmes. Some of you have retired, some of you are somewhere in between. Some of you may consider yourselves as never having had anything to do with Engineering at all. Hopefully all of you have found something to enjoy and to learn from this course, and had thought-provoking interactions with other learners which have changed your perspective. In writing the course, I deliberately made it wide ranging in scope, because the breadth Engineering surprised me when I transferred from Science departments to Engineering departments in my career as a University academic. I have learned to make stronger connections between the technical and the contextual aspects of a problem. I have become more aware of people interacting with systems, with technology and with each other. This has improved many aspects of my work as an educator and as a researcher.
