So this is how electrical and electronic systems interface with the mechanical or the physical world. We've got a really good example of one of these behind me. You'll probably be able to see these wind turbines on the Mersey.
Skip to 0 minutes and 37 secondsSo what's happening in that system is the wind is a physical force which is spinning those sails on the turbine. And that's generating electricity which is transmitted through the grid, into your house, and that powers the internet and the computer that makes you able to watch this video. So that's a big thing that's interfaced between the physical and the electrical world. On a smaller scale, here's a good example, too. Here's my key to unlock my car. I press one of these buttons. That transmits an electrical signal. And that electrical signal is then used to release the mechanical locks on the car doors. So that's what this module is all about.
