So, what will you learn and who will you meet along this course?

Week 1

In the first week, we are going to start by explaining why energy storage is important in today’s world and what some of the practical applications of energy storage are in key economic sectors, such as the transport and the power sectors. There is a focus to the most promising energy storage technologies. To do so, we interviewed the expert, Bo Normark, Thematic Leader of Smart Grids and Energy Storage at InnoEnergy

Week 2

In this second week, we are going to examine the lithium-ion battery supply chain and large-scale battery production processes. Yann Laot, Strategic Marketing Manager at SAFT will guide us through the manufacturing process at a large production facility for lithium-ion batteries. Lastly, we will explore how the lithium-ion battery industry started in the 90s and how much it has grown until today.

Week 3

In the third week of the course, we will explore the benefits of battery storage for industrial products, specifically in underground mining. Erik Svedlund, Global Marketing Manager at Epiroc will help us examine the current challenges in the sector and the upcoming trend towards electrification. We will also discuss the financial and ecological benefits of such a shift.

Week 4

In the last week of the course, we are going to examine the current market of electric vehicles, the key players and the developments regarding charging infrastructure with a battery expert with both academic and industry expertise. We will also explore emerging new business models linked to electric vehicles.

The Educators of this course are renowned experts of the industry who are willing to share their experience through their videos and increase your knowledge on the topic. A different Educator will take you through the course each week! You will not be able to interact with the Educators directly, but Dimitra Maleka, the facilitator of the course, will be at your disposal all along the way for any questions you might have.

Keep in mind that this is a self-paced course, and there is no facilitator involvement!
