We’ve all heard of fake news. But when it comes to food and health stories, which sources can we trust? Sometimes articles refer to scientific studies, and then misrepresent the science. This is very common when reporting on risk and how likely it is that a particular food item or ingredient will make you ill. Unfortunately, the reporting of dietary advice in UK newspapers has been found to be unsatisfactory in terms of not meeting the recommended levels of evidence to substantiate the claims they contain.
