Week 3 Summary

Week 3 looked at how to write paragraphs for an essay using 3 key components and how to link between paragraphs to effectively communicate your ideas.

This Week you looked at the principles behind paragraphing and examined the three component elements:

  • the paragraph leader
  • supporting sentences
  • concluding sentence.

You also looked at the different ways you can develop a paragraph by adding further explanation, examples and statistics, to communicate your ideas effectively.

We hope you enjoyed writing a sample paragraph, and that you were able to successfully test your newly acquired skills during this task.

Next week

Next week you will look at how to integrate ideas from other sources into your writing using the appropriate academic conventions, how to avoid plagiarism, and how to link your ideas effectively.
