Institutional isomorphism

In this video, Georg von Schnurbein presents institutional isomorphism as a theory to analyze organizational development.

Improvement in life is about learning and adapting. One can learn through theorizing, discovery, or failure. Additionally, adaptation helps to change action and learn later, when the adaptation has been successful. This applies to both individuals and organizations.

In theory, isomorphism means that things are similar and, thus, comparable. In this sense, rules and norms of one entity can be transferred onto other entities. The aim of the theory presented in the following video is to explain how and why organizations in the same field of activity develop and how they influence each other in this process.

Do any other examples of institutional isomorphism come to mind? Please post them below.
