Choosing your topic

Knowing why you have chosen to do an EPQ can help you choose the topic that is right for you. For example, you may be particularly interested in building a guitar. However, if your main motivation to do your EPQ is to get accepted at university to study biology, then it may be more useful to you to choose a topic related to this area.

When choosing your topic, there are several things you may need to consider and questions you’ll want to ask yourself.

Open our online mind map to explore these aspects of topic choice. Click the play button in the toolbar to take a section-by-section tour of the map; you can also scroll for a close-up view. Alternatively, you can access a PDF version of the mind map in the Downloads section at the bottom of this page.
