How can you use pictures to motivate learners

Many of you noted in your comments on Amal’s lesson last week the importance of beginning a lesson by getting learners’ attention, engaging them, motivating them and getting them talking. Choosing and using photos or pictures is a great way to help engage learners and involve them.

Task

Look again at the course image above.

  • Who do you think took this picture?
  • Where was she going?
  • Where is she now?
  • What happened before the picture was taken?
  • What happened afterwards?
  • Post your ideas in the comments section and see how many different ideas and stories different participants have created from this image.
