What do teachers need to know about grammar? Verb forms

The other thing teachers need to know about grammar is verb forms (sometimes called tenses), including how they are constructed and what they can be used for. Let’s have a look at a few verb forms.

Look at the table below. You’ll see there is a verb form (or tense), a meaning/use of the verb form, and an example sentence. The words in the example sentences are jumbled. Put them in the correct order.

There’s a PDF document below which you can download to check your answers.

Task

What do you think of this jumbled word activity? Teachers often use this type of activity with learners to practise grammar. How do you think this type of activity helps learners? Are there other activities you have used or you know about for practising grammar? Share your ideas in the comments section and read other learners’ comments. You can ask other people questions about activities they suggest by replying to their comment.
