Welcome to Week 2

Welcome back!

In Week 1 you explored how your food is produced as well as frameworks for examining sustainable production, such as the three pillars of sustainable agriculture. You also looked at some of the common challenges farmers face in making their farming practices as sustainable as possible.

Throughout the course you’ll look at the latest technologies making a big difference to the sustainability of farming, and at what this might mean for the future. Last week, you found out about the top 5 technologies used in horticulture, and we asked how you think these might impact the future of farming.

This Week will build on what you have learnt so far about sustainable practices, shifting the focus on to arable farming and feeding a growing population. Over the Week, you’ll look at arable farming, how these crops are grown, and related issues of food loss and food waste.
