Welcome to Week 2

Many of you in your practice will be very familiar with an excited person coming to tell you that they’re pregnant and with all questions.

Of course, they will have done numerous Google searches and will have lots of information about what’s good for them, what’s not good for them, what their mother’s done, what their grandmother’s done, to cope with some of the common problems that people have in their early pregnancy, such as nausea, heartburn, and constipation.

  • What’s the latest evidence base in this?

  • What top tips can you really give to people that’s going to help them get through this critical time and also ensure that they have a healthy and happy baby?

In this week of the course, you’ll explore nutrition for pregnancy and investigate some practical case study scenarios for you to respond to that will help guide your practice and make you more confident in being able to deal with any question that comes up.

  • A pregnant women wants to know if there is any special diet she should follow in her first trimester, or is a folic acid supplement enough? How would you answer?
