Learning information on nutrition and food is important for both personal and professional reasons; good nutrition is important for personal health and also relative to many professions, both inside and outside of the healthcare industry.

Communicating evidenced based nutrition information accurately and clearly is extremely important; from talking to friends about information you have learnt, to providing nutrition information to the public in a retail setting (e.g. you may be placing nutrition information on a menu), to talking about nutrition to clients.

Learning new information can be exciting, however it is important to understand any limits in knowledge and practice; knowing when to refer on to experts within areas of nutrition, food and health is essential for the ethical practice of communicating nutrition, food and health information.

Learn more about the ethical and practical aspects of safe communication of nutrition information from the Standard of Ethics, Conduct and Performance produced by the Association for Nutrition.
