Planning for Ambiguity

There are tools and concepts that can be applied in highly ambiguous work settings. Watch Professor Yael Grushka-Cockyane explain more.

As you watch this video, think about some of the projects that you have previously or currently been involved with.

Were any of these projects considered highly ambiguous projects, with many unknown unknowns? If so, how did you navigate the planning process in this situation? Based on your experience, what would you do differently next time?

If you haven’t had experience with this type of project, think about a situation or initiative that is likely to occur in your organization/life where there might be a highly ambiguous project with many unknown unknowns. Examples may include (but not limited to): new technology, new customers, new market, and new opportunities. How might you apply some of the tools and concepts from this video to the project?
