What are futurists trying to do?

What are futurists trying to do?

They are trying to gain more knowledge about trends, issues, and variables that will have a bearing on the future. They always emphasize that there is not one specific future, but rather a number of possible futures.

They need to explore all these possibilities and then from that, explore ways of dealing with the consequence of that change for the future.

Give an example of a situation where better knowledge of trends, issues and variables would have a significant impact on individuals in the future. A good example would be the ability to predict an earthquake. This prediction could save thousands of lives.

Try to find an example where the trends, issues and variables have not yet been explored to predict a possible future.
