Our second activity looks at ways in which to improve access to health care for people with disabilities featuring an eye health case study from Pakistan and the opportunity to use international sign. We will then focus on improving access to rehabilitation featuring assistive devices, examples of innovative mobile health technology, rehabilitation in conflict settings, and the importance of using a sustainable health system's approach.

Welcome to Week 3

Welcome to Week 3. We now have a better understanding about disability and its importance in the development agenda, and about the links between disability, health and wellbeing. But how can we improve access to health care and rehabilitation services?

This week we will conclude the course by discussing how to improve access to health care and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities in more detail.

What will we learn?

In activities throughout our third week we will:

  • Explore access to health and rehabilitation in the lives of people with disabilities from a variety of perspectives

  • Consider ways to improve access to health care for people with disabilities

  • Consider ways to improve access to rehabilitation for people with disabilities

  • Discuss the wider needs of people with disabilities through introducing community based inclusive development

As in the first and second weeks, we encourage you to share your reflections and experiences with your fellow learners and we will be paying attention to your discussions in each step’s Comments area. We will clarify any key points of discussion in a summary document added to Step 3.18 Summary of Week 3 at the end of the week before we conclude the course.
